What it does
Solar Embedding 2 is Upstage’s current embedding generation, released June 30, 2026. The official guide recommends it for new integrations, describes an extended 8,000-token context and identifies its base as Microsoft’s Harrier OSS 0.6B.
The service presents the matching query and passage encoders as one choice. Set input_type to query for a user question and document for indexed content; AIRuntime selects solar-embedding-2-query or solar-embedding-2-passage accordingly. Both produce 1,024-dimensional vectors.
